Welcome to the Youngstown Neptunes Swim Team. We swim at the Youngstown YMCA Central, 17 N. Champion St.,
Youngstown, OH 44503 PH: (330) 744-8411
Neptune News Hope everyone had fun at our picture day/Halloween party on Thursday. Thanks to everyone who brought in pumpkins to decorate our pool deck and to Rachel and Ashley Emerson for organizing games for the team. The food was great, btw. Thanks to everyone who helped out. Second meet news – We swim the Green YMCA this Saturday, November 7 at Green. Their YMCA address is 3800 Massillon Rd., Uniontown, OH 44685. Our warm-ups are at 1:30 p.m. The meet starts at 2:00 p.m. Be sure to bring warm clothing as their gym is very chilly! Our team area is in the gym, and either a coach or two parents (who we will point out to you) will be passing out the event cards. If you can not attend this meet, you should have emailed Coach Sue about this by now! Fees list/Medical Release Forms – I have been given a list of all swimmers who have yet to pay their swim team dues and/or fill out a Medical Release form. Thankfully, it is relatively short. Unfortunately, if said swimmer comes to practice, they will not be permitted to participate until fees are paid and/or forms are filled out. So, please pay your swimmer(s)’ team dues or fill out their medical release form so I do not have to make anyone feel bad. Thank you from Coach Sue. Aloha YMCA Invitational – Anyone wanting to attend the Aloha Invitational held at the Ashtabula YMCA on Sunday, November 15, 2009 needs to contact Karla Cabrera ASAP. We have lots of kids going to this meet, and we’d love a ton more. You pick the events you swim and there is a small entry fee per event. Hope you can come!

Attention All Neptune Swimmers from Coach Sue...
It's smack-down time. Time to see what you're made of. Time to put purpose in your practice.
Time for the King Neptune Challenge!!
What is the King Neptune Challenge you ask? Let me tell ya...
Any swimmer who swims every dual meet event offered for their age group over the course of the Neptune swim season will have conquered the King Neptune Challenge. The events swum can be done at Neptune dual meets, YMCA invitationals or USA meets. You must finish each event and not be disqualified. So if the breaststroke kick is daunting, better get it legal. If the 100 fly seems impossible, better focus on that stroke in practice.
Everyone is automatically pre-entered into the King Neptune Challenge, but who will succeed?
REQUIREMENTS
* 8 & Unders must swim 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly and do the 50 yard freestyle.
* 9 & 10s and 11 & 12s must swim 50 yards of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly as well as a 200 free, 100 free and 100 IM (individual medley).
* 13 & 14 and 15 & Over swimmers must swim a 50 of freestyle, a 100 of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, as well as a 200 freestyle, 200 IM, and 500 freestyle.
All swimmers who complete the King Neptune Challenge will win a cool King Neptune Challenge pin to put on their swim bag; warm-up jacket; high schoolers - put the pin on your swim letter.
***High school swimmers, please turn in your times and events to Coach Sue when you swim at high school meets to meet the eligibility requirements for this award. Thank you.
USA Team Registration
If you'd like to register your swimmer(s) for the first time, please fill out the 2010 Year Round Athlete form and return to me with a Check payable to Y-Neptunes for $48.00 and a copy of the swimmer's birth certificate.
If you are renewing a swimmer to USA swimming, I just need the Check for $48.00. The form is only needed if you have any address or phone number changes.
The form can be found here: http://www.lakeerieswimming.com/forms.htm
See you all in September!

Here are a few do's and don'ts to remember:
DO | DON'T |
DO Enjoy your snacks in the Youth Lobby | DON'T Sneak a snack in the gym area |
DO WALK through our halls and deck area with your shoes on. | DON'T RUN to any area of the YMCA |
DO - NEPTUNE families are encouraged to use the RIGHT half of the gym. | DON'T Forget to welcome our visitors |
DO - NEPTUNE families are encouraged to network with other families (in different age groups) so that eveyone can see their child swim. This is important when sitting in the bleachers. | DON'T Forget to be considerate to others. |
THANK YOU!
Coach Sue wrote an article this past July for the Ohio Sports and Fitness periodical. Check it out. Way to go Coach Sue!
A really big thank you to Mary Lou Mikolay for taking such great photos. Here's the scoop... Go to the photo page to see a select representation of her work under Divisionals and Presidential Invitational albums. To see the entire 155 photos please go to this link http://s690.photobucket.com/albums/vv269/shelahmom1/ This is my photobucket account and I invite you to see them through this link. Hopefully this will work. I cannot load all 155 photos onto our page because photos take up alot of our allotted space. Thanks for following the link. Sheila
Please scroll down under the advertisements... there are 8 pages to browse.
Update: Mary Lou posted"League" photos at http://s617.photobucket.com/albums/tt255/marylou615/?albumview=slideshow

We are Division 1 Champions!
And in the process the kids earned 129 Personal Best ribbons! And I believe the swimmers either bettered or achieved Zone times in 13 events!
We can order a new banner for the pool! Wooo Hooo!
It should be Monday or Tuesday of this week to know who qualified to compete at Leagues at Canton in March.
Stay tuned for more excitement of the Youngstown Neptune Swim Team!
